Wolf Set to Howl His Way Back to Philly

The excitement is almost too much to take - former Phillies pitcher and fan favorite Randall Christopher Wolf takes the mound tonight for the visiting San Diego Padres at Citizens Bank Park. The Pepperdine product and California native has not returned to Philadelphia since leaving after the 2006 season to sign a one-year contract with the Dodgers and has never pitched against the Fightin' Phils in his major league career. During his eight seasons as a Phillie, Wolf was an innings eater and sported one of the sweetest mullets (seen above) in the City of Brotherly Love since the days of John Kruk. Wolf had quite a following in Philadelphia, including a group of fans dubbed The Wolf Pack. "Actually, I got an e-mail from them the other day just wishing me well," Wolf said. "It's going to be exciting and kind of weird," Wolf told the Padres' official Web site. "A lot of the guys over there I played with. Of course, when you're competing against guys you're friends with, then it makes for an interesting experience. I'm excited. Obviously, with their lineup, it's a tough task. You have to be on your game, mullet or no mullet."
